Introduction

Tamil is one of the ancient languages and the longest surviving classical language of the world. It is one of the official languages in India, Singapore and Sri Lanka. We are very proud to inculcate this ancient language to our next generation in Jacksonville.

JTM Tamil Palli is a Non-profit Organization, 501(C)(3) Tax exempt, accredited by Advanced Head, Florida. Tamil Palli is a special purpose educational institution teaching Tamil in Jacksonville area following ATA (American Tamil Academy) syllabus. JTM Tamil School is committed to provide a high quality of K-8 educational experience. JTM Tamil School is fortunate to have an exceptional, highly qualified teaching staff. All of the staff members are volunteers who are passionate about taking the Tamil culture to the next generation. They teach the kids Tamil Language, its rich literature, various cultures and variety of folk activities from ancient days.

The school’s mission is to impart knowledge of Tamil language and culture to next generation children living in and around Jacksonville.

History

Executive Committee Members of the Jacksonville Tamil Mandram (JTM) (https://jaxtamilmandram.org/)felt the need for a dedicated school to teach Tamil language and culture to the younger generations of Jacksonville Tamil community and took initiative for the same in 2012. In March 2013 the first ever class of the Tamil school was conducted in the South East Public Library with about 15 students and 4 teachers. The school became a member of American Tamil Academy (ATA), in the year of 2014 enabling it to have access to their resource materials, curriculum, student evaluation methods and course completion certifications. During the first year of its membership with ATA, the school had 18 students enrolled with 6 teachers. That has now grown in strength with 136 enrolled students and 30 teachers (19 main Teachers, 2 Admin  and 9 Substitutes). Currently the school has Mun Mazhalai (Pre-KG) through Nilai 8(Grade 8) and ATA curriculum supports up to Nilai 8 (Grade 8). The school is conveniently located in the Green Land Chase area Jacksonville. The school is serving the Jacksonville area and other nearby communities. The geographical location covers Duval, Orange, Clay and St. Johns counties.

முன்னுரை

உலகில் தோன்றிய மூத்த மொழிகளில், அழியாது நிலைபெற்று விளங்கும் பெருமை மிகுந்தது எங்கள் தமிழ் மொழி. இந்தியாவில் அலுவல் மொழியாகவும், இலங்கையிலும், சிங்கப்பூரிலும் அலுவல் மற்றும் தேசிய மொழியாகவும், மேலும் சில தெற்கு ஆசிய நாடுகளில்  சிறுபான்மையினர் மொழியாகவும், அங்கீகரிக்கப் பட்டு நிலவி வரும் செம்மொழி தமிழ் ஆகும். பாரம்பரியம் மிகுந்த இத்தகு மொழியை அடுத்த தலைமுறைக்கு கற்பிப்பதில் பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறோம்.

 

ஜே.டி.எம் தமிழ் பள்ளி, ஒரு இலாப நோக்கமற்ற அமைப்பு. மேலும் 501(C)(3) Tax விலக்கு (501(C)(3) Tax Exempt.) அளிக்கப் பட்டு, ஃப்ளோரிடாவின் அட்வான்ஸ்டு  ஹெட் (Advanced Head) ஆல் அங்கீகரிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது. ஜாக்சன்வில் நகரத்தில், எ.டி.எ (அமெரிக்கன் தமிழ் அகாடமி) பாட முறைபடி, தமிழ் பயில்விக்கும் சிறப்பு கல்வி நிறுவனமாக நிலவி வருகிறது. K-8 என்னும் உயர்ந்த தரம் மிக்க கல்வி அனுபவத்தை கொடுப்பதில் மிகுந்த முனைப்புடன் எங்கள் பள்ளி செயல் படுகிறது. மித மிஞ்சிய தகுதியும், திறமையும் உடைய ஆசிரியர்கள் அமைந்தது பள்ளியின் பாக்கியம். அனைத்து ஆசியர்களும், பணியாளர்களும், உத்வேகம் கொண்ட தன்னார்வ ஊழியர்களாக தமிழை அடுத்த தலைமுறைக்கு எடுத்து செல்லும் நாட்டம் கொண்டவர்கள். இவர்கள் பாரம்பரியம் மிக்க தமிழ் பழக்க வழக்கங்களையும், செம்மையான இலக்கியங்களையும், பண்பாடு மிக்க நாட்டுப்புற கலைகளையும் கற்றுக் கொடுக்கிறார்கள். ஜாக்சன்வில் மற்றும் அதன் சுற்றுப்புறங்களில் வாழ்ந்து வரும் அடுத்த தலைமுறையினருக்கு தமிழ் மொழியையும், கலாச்சராத்தையும், பயில்விப்பதே ஜே.டி.எம் தமிழ் பள்ளியின் முக்கிய நோக்கம்.

பாரபட்சமற்ற செயல் திட்டம் (Non-Discriminatory Policy)

ஜே.டி.எம் தமிழ் பள்ளி, இனம், நிறம், மொழி, மதம் என்று வேற்றுமை பாராமல் அனைத்து மாணவர்களையும் வரவேற்கிறது. பாரபட்சம் ஏதும் இல்லாமல் அனைவருக்கும் ஒரே போல் உரிமைகளும், சலுகைகளும், திட்டங்களும், செயல்பாடுகளும் அமைத்து நடுநிலையாக விளங்குகிறது. மேலும் வேறுபாடுகள் இன்றி கல்வி திட்டம், சேர்க்கை திட்டம், கல்வி உதவித்தொகை திட்டம், தடகள திட்டம் என யாவும் கொடுக்க படுகிறது. இந்த திட்டம் பள்ளியின் பிரௌச்சர் (Brochure) மற்றும் வெப்சைட் (Website) கொண்டு பிரசுரம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

வரலாறு

ஜாக்சன்வில் தமிழ் மன்றத்தின்(https://jaxtamilmandram.org/), எக்சிக்யூட்டிவ் கமிட்டி மெம்பெர்ஸ், தமிழையும் தமிழ் கலாச்சாரத்தையும் வரும் இளைய தலைமுறைக்கும் கற்றுக் கொடுக்க தமிழ் பள்ளி ஒன்று நிறுவ வேண்டியது அவசியம் என  உணர்ந்து, 2012ல் முயற்ச்சிகள் எடுத்தனர். மார்ச் 2013ல், சவுத் ஈஸ்ட் பப்ளிக் லைப்ரரியில், 15 மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் நான்கு ஆசிரியர்களுடன் முதல் வகுப்பு நடந்தது. தமிழ் பள்ளி 2014ல் எ.டி.எ (அமெரிக்கன் தமிழ் அகாடமி) யின் உறுப்பினராகி, பாட திட்டங்களையும், வகுப்பு மதிப்பீடு முறைகளையும், வகுப்புச் சான்றிதழ்களையும் அதன் வழி அளிக்க ஆரம்பித்தது. எ.டி.எ (அமெரிக்கன் தமிழ் அகாடமி) யின் உறுப்பினரான வருடம், 2 ஆசிரியர்களையும், 19 மாணவர்களையும் கொண்ட பள்ளி, இன்று 30 ஆசிரியர்களையும் (18 தலைமை ஆசிரியர்களும், 9 மாற்றுநிலை ஆசிரியர்கள்), 136 மாணவர்களையும் கொண்டு மிகப் பிரம்மாண்டமாக வளர்ந்துள்ளது. முன்-மழலை(Pre-K.G) முதல் நிலை எட்டு (Grade 8) வரை பள்ளியில் நடந்து வருகிறது. நிலை எட்டு (Grade 8) வரை எ.டி.எ (அமெரிக்கன் தமிழ் அகாடமி) கல்வி திட்டம் வழங்குகிறது. ஜாக்சன்வில், கிறீன் லேண்ட் சேஸ் இல் பள்ளி இப்போது அமைந்துள்ளது. டூவல், ஆரஞ்சு, கிலே, செயின்ட் ஜான்ஸ் கவுண்டி மாணவர்கள் எளிதாக அணுகும் இடத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
